"Heaven's Empty Nest"
Romans 8:32; Philippians 2:5-8
Introduction:
Parents are called empty-nesters whose children
have grown and moved away from home. Some of us have experienced this change in
our life. What kind of feeling did you have when your children moved away?
A little over 2000 years ago, God the Father for
the first time in eternity past had experienced the feeling of loss and sadness.
At this "Joy to the World" season, I'd like to share with you what God and Father
and God the Son had to give up at the first Christmas.
Outline:
- The sacrifices on the part of the Father:
- He gave up His best for humankind.
- He made no provision for His Son.
- He let Him die a cruel death.
- The sacrifices on the part of the Son:
- He gave up His glorious position to be a man.
- He gave up His divine privileges to be a slave.
- He gave up His precious life for us sinners.
Conclusion:
While we celebrate the birth of Christ enjoying its
festivities, we need to ask these two questions:
- Do I have the mind of Christ?
- Have I made any connection bringing the lost to
Christ, the King?
