1. CBC welcomes Dr. Jeff Ward as our Interim Senior Pastor!
   
   
2. Our new church directories are finally here! For those of you who had your picture taken for this directory, please pick up your copy today or on Sunday, Sept. 5 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the back of the FLC.
   
   
3. CBC Chinese School Classes/Orientation is TODAY at 2:00-3:45 pm in the FLC. For information and registration form, visit www.cbcchineseschool.org or call Wendy in the CBC office. Also available: free "ESL Class" begins on Sept. 12.
   
   
4. Middle School and High School Lock-In on Friday, Sept. 3 at 8:00 pm until Saturday, Sept. 4, 10:00 am in the FLC. Cost $5.00 covers snack and breakfast. Please eat dinner before coming to the Lock-in. Deadline for permission slips is Sunday, Aug. 29; turn in your slips to Adam Lee. On the day of the lock-in, please bring your $5.00.
   
   
5. Calling all who serve our CBC Nursery/Pre-School/Children/Youth, and CBC Chinese School! The next Child Protection Class is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in Room 159. Completion of the Child Protection Class is a mandatory requirement for all teachers, assistants, babysitters, volunteers at CBC and the CBC Chinese School. All workers must take the class once a year; if you have not taken the class since September 2009, you are required to take the class again. Please note date subject to change if low attendance, thus please R.S.V.P. if you are attending. Contact CBC Office at 713.461.0963.
   
   
6. Shop School Supply Sales Now! Boomers' School Supply Collection for several CBC teachers will be held Sunday, Sept. 5 and 12. See poster for specific needs.
   
   
7. The CBC Office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.
   
   
8. Rainbow Fellowship: Thursday, Sept. 9 at 10:00 am in the FLC. Christina Jee will report on the Venezuela Mission Trip. Lunch boxes: $4 each.
   
   
9. AWANA begins Friday, Sept. 10 for Grades K to 5. Registration is from 7:00 to 7:30 pm with Parent and Clubber Orientation from 7:30 to 7:45 pm. Club meeting ends at 9:15 pm. Registration forms are available online. If you have any questions, please contact Raymond Louie.
   
   
10. Attention Sunday School Teachers and Ministry Leaders! An 8-week training session of John C. Maxwell's "Developing the Leader Within You" will begin on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 am in Room 163. To preorder the textbook ($10.00) and workbook ($5.00), please contact Jeannie Moon by August 30.
    
    
11. Annual Budget and Nominations Business Meeting will be Sunday, Sept. 12.
    
    
12. A Children's Christian Growth Class (formerly known as Discovery Class) will be offered during the Sunday School hour beginning Sunday, Sept. 12 and ending Sunday, Nov. 7. Children who are entering the 1st grade through 6th grades are welcome to join this class. Please register your child by Sunday, Sept. 5. If any questions, please contact William or Carol Gaw.
    
    
13. Parent meeting of middle and high school youth will be on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Location will be announced soon.
    
    
14. The Worship Department is issuing a Casting Call for this year's Christmas Musical. If interested, please sign up with Kai Yuen at kaiyuenc@cbchouston.org. The following cast members are needed:
