CBC Re-Connecting

CBC Re-Connecting this Summer (June 6 - Aug 29). Download the new summer schedule, revised on 06/11/21. Classes updated include Bible ESL, Youth, Hope and Adult Co-ed. Rev. Andrew Chao will lead the Chinese Senior Adults monthly (1st Sunday of the month) on July 4 & Aug 1; seniors' class will resume weekly beginning September 5. CBC Women's Fall Bible Virtual
Fellowship (WVBF) Various Costs

The Women's Fall Bible Fellowship will meet weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm (September 2 - November 18). RSVP deadline of August 22 for purchasing study books to womensministry@cbchouston.org. With your RSVP, submit your full name, phone number, email address and choice of Class A or B. On August 22 and 29, a registration table in the Sanctuary lobby will be open after worship service. Sign up and collect your study books from Helen Lee or Josephine Choi. Pay by cash or check, payable to "CCIUSAHouston". Also, confirm your enrollment date/location (based on the majority choice of Class A or B (listed below).

"How to Be a People Helper" by Gary R. Collins via Zoom for 12 weeks, available in English & Chinese, is excellent for spiritual maturity. Learn to become HIS cohesive body of Christ Jesus Our Lord & Savior. Learn how to make friends, how to comfort relatives, friends, coworkers, and how to heal yourself (Jn. 13:34-35). Then, can we Heed the Great commission to spread the gospel. The English book costs $13.00; the Chinese book is out of print. (For Chinese-only content, contact womensministry@cbchouston.org.
WomenWise - "Wisdom for Mothers" by Dennis Glenn via Zoom for 8 weeks (September - October). This class, available in English & Chinese, is excellent to mature the single woman to become equipped with godly character to allow God to pick her future spouse, to equip women to become godly mothers and grandparents, and to equip CBC women to become women of God (Titus 2:3-5) for raising up the next generation to heed the Great Commission (Matt 28:8-9), for the world is waiting for the return of Christ Jesus! Cost of books: Chinese - $15.00, English - $12.00. (Scholarship available if needed).

Gospel Sunday: Hearing God Through Music

The theme for Sunday Worship Service on Sunday, September 5 is "Hearing God through Music." Pastor Kai Yuen will be playing piano music and sharing the 4 Spiritual Laws. It is a light and relaxing program; please invite non-Christian friends and neighbors.

Communion Sunday
September 5 @ 10:00 am / Sanctuary
We will be holding our monthly communion. During the worship service, the pastor will give instructions to break the bread and give/serve to other family members, etc. Upon arrival for English or Cantonese worship, please pick up the sealed Lord's Supper packets at the foyer desk, before entering the Sanctuary and discard the empty packet when you leave. This practice will continue until the Virus Task Force permits resumption to using serving trays. To participate at home, you will need to secure communion bread and cup (grape juice) by

Pre-packaged communion bread and cups can be picked up at CBC in the foyer just outside the church office from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm from Monday, April 26 - Friday, April 30. In order to practice social distancing, no physical contact will be made between you and the church staff.
Provide your own communion bread and cup (ex. grape juice).

University of Houston Outreach Ministry

Outreach Ministry/Serving the new arriving UH International students. Pastor Oleg is collecting donations of these items: twin mattresses,desks, small dining tables, chairs, bookshelves, chicken or vegetarian instant noodles, homemade baked cookies, snacks. Deadline for collection is September 5. Contact P. Oleg for drop off or deliveries.

Church-wide Prayer Meeting

Kids Sunday School | Zoom Huddles | Kickoff

All kids Sunday school will take a break in August. Sunday 2nd-Hour Kids Church continues through August. The new ministry year begins on Sunday, September 12. All parents are to attend the kickoff Sunday in the joint worship service at 10:00 am with their children, followed by registration and sign up in various serving opportunities within KidMin. This is to align our ministry strategy with our mission/vision, to partner with parents in their kids' discipleship process.

Chinese School Begins New Semester $240/year

CBC Chinese School classes are held on Sunday afternoons at 1:30 pm, beginning Sunday, September 12. Traditional and Simplified Chinese classes include Chinese character reading & writing, calligraphy, conversation, recital and activity teaching. We are accepting enrollment from Kindergarten (age 5) to 8th grade. Please email any question to cbcchinesesch@gmail.com or contact Amy So (Cantonese) or Jolee (Mandarin).
