Missions Committee News and Information

The Missions Committee oversees missions in general for CBC. More than one half of our budget goes to the CO-OP program of Southern Baptist Convention for International and North American Missions and UBA for church planting. We supplement that with our Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong offerings. We have met our offering goals every year including this one with the grace of God.

We have on-going yearly support with various missionaries: Mitsu & Karen Nakurmura & family, Johnny & Jenny Jones and Cenia Wong. In addition, we encourage you to give directly to their organizations specifically for their benefit in any amount and any time period. For information on how to contribute, please contact any mission committee member. They will surely appreciate the interest, support and prayers. To see the latest news on our missionaries, please see our bulletin board in the office foyer. We also support various Chinese missionary organizations and media outlets.

2016 Missions

  • Latvia Mission Trip (June 4-15, 2016)
We built on the foundation set up last year of planting a new church in Daugavpils, Latvia and served God through recruiting students to English as a Second Language activities, working with growing the new church, interacting with youth so that they may hear the gospel, perhaps for the first time, and interacted with adorable kids in the state-run orphanages who just want to play and be held.

  • Dominican Republic Mission Trip (June 28-July 4, 2016)       DR Missions Blog
We ministered to Dominican children and families, showing love to the children as we visited orphanages and schools, taught Bible and craft classes and provided needed care at our medical and dental clinics. We demonstrated teeth-brushing to moms and their children and built closets. We prayed, handed out tracts and distributed school supplies, food and medicines. We participated in worship and singing in Dominican-led churches, helped buy and ditribute food for World Hunger, visited one-on-one with Dominican families and were amazed at the marvelous faith of the Dominican Christians in an all-sufficient God!

If you have any suggestions to enrich the missions outreach, contact any committee members: Tim Eng, Wayne Gor, Michael Yuen, Sherman Yeang, Connie Lee and Arlene Ligh.

We encourage our members to see if God calls you for a mission project. Contact us and let us see if CBC can assist you. We have many possibilities and directions we can take in the future; we can't do everything, but we will try to prioritize and help with our Church Vision and our Lord in mind.
