Why Holiness?
Hebrews 12:4-17

I.  Because God is holy. (1 Peter 1:16)

a) wholly other.
    Ex. 15:11

b) perfectly whole.

II. We are called to be holy.
(1 Peter 1:15)
III.    What we must do to become holy:
a) see God properly. (Isa. 6:1-5)

b) accept discipline. (vs. 7)

Is discipline punishment?  (Heb. 9:28, Isa. 53:5)

"We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered  in the province of Asia.  We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.  Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death, but this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God,who raises the dead."
2 Corinthians 1:8-9

c) do our part.  (vs. 10, 14)
    Phil. 2:12-13
