What Will Prevent Us From Seeing God?
Hebrews 12:12-17

vs. 14 “...without holiness no one will see the Lord.”

Holiness - set apart

The requirement: a faith that desires greater holiness.

Titus 2:11-12
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”

Steps to increase your holiness:

    1) Receive God’s discipline. (vs. 5-13)

The purpose of discipline: to move us to a deeper  level of  holiness.

2 Cor 1:8-9
“We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia.  We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.  Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death.  But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”

    2) Recognizing God’s grace to help us. (vs. 15)
Heb 10:10  “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

Heb 12:10  “Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.”

    3) Rejecting temporal pleasures. (vs. 16-17)
