The 8th Commandment: A Higher Standard
Exodus 20:15; 1 Peter 1:13-16

Exodus 20:15  "You shall not steal."

Ex. 21:16  "Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death."
Ex. 22:1  "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep."
Ex. 22:7  "If a man gives his neighbor silver or goods for safekeeping and they are stolen from the neighbor's house, the thief, if he is caught, must pay back double."

Stealing is "OK" because:
    1) everybody else is doing it
    2) I'm not really hurting anybody (they are not really going to lose money; they're so rich anyways)
    3) Technically, it's not stealing

1 Pet. 1:13-16  "Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

Leviticus 11:44-45 "I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground.  I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy."

1 Pet. 1:14  "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. "

1 Cor. 1:2  "To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:"
