Don’t Reduce God
Exodus 20:4-6

Why shouldn’t we make images of God?

1)   It causes reduction.   (Deut. 4:15-19)
a)  no image can properly represent God.
b) it puts us in the place of God.
2)  It causes destruction.  (Rom. 1:21-24)
Application:
Guard your physical images of God.

Guard your  mental images of God.

What's in a Name?
Exodus 20:7

What's the big deal with misusing God's name?

1) It's representation of who God is.

2) It brings retribution.  (Vs. 7, Lev. 24:10-16, Mt. 2:36)

3) It's a reflection of our hearts. (Lk. 6:45)

How we misuse God's name:
1) Through our words.  (vs. 7, Lev. 19:12, Mt. 5:37)

2) By our motives.

3) In our actions.  (Rom. 2:23-24)

How we can properly honor God's name:
1) Meditation.

2) Magnification.  (Ps. 61:5, Eph. 4:29).
